Learning Gamedev the hard way

In "Learning Gamedev the hard way" I want to share my journey so far in learning to make games. I had a very slow progression due to some big mistakes I made by being hard-headed. I started years ago and I am still a beginner with very little to show for. I will dive into my memory and bring up stuff I experienced along the way. Maybe you can avoid some of the mistakes I made. Or learn something from the things I did right.

Intermezzo 1: Gameplay Video of "A Perfect Landing"

This time I will share a gameplay video of our game "A Perfect Landing". This is my first (and thus far only) publically released game. We made it for a gamejam, which was really helpful, because it forced us to actually finish the game.

So this time's lesson is: If you are struggling to release your projects, join a gamejam.

I will talk about the game in more detail in a future post. Next time, I will continue the chonological rundown of my gamedev projects, and share some lessons from my second game.

Enjoy the video:

I found this blog while I was looking for ways to learn game development. I was surprised to find that there were so many resources available for free. You can hire resume writing services online as well this blog covers everything from the basics of game development to more advanced topics. It also includes interviews with game developers, which is really helpful in getting insights into the industry.

The title says it all! I've been learning game development the hard way for about seven years now and it hasn't always been exciting. But that's just one of the reasons why I think game dev is so fun. You see, in between all the writing and teaching, I've made games in my spare time. Sometimes this means less than two hours a week, on others, it may be six or seven hours per week. This blog is going to be about my experiences in learning huff post game development as well as various articles I've written about both professional and personal life.
