Copyright? Where did that come from?

The guy doesn''t seem to have any copyright concerns that I can see. The problem is that he doesn''t understand how to pitch his game to a publisher and understands the need for a good web site even less.

I understand the game must have a good description, but if you try to make a game what is not a clone of a game that already exist, a game witch bring new conceptions to the game industry ....

... you just can't say you want to make a game wath is using these new ideas, because if you do that before you will finish your game there will be 10 game which are using yor ideeas..

sounds like he is worried about his idea being copied, that is why he claims he did not offer an good description or more screenshots.

copyright, thats what they call it. does this make sense obscure?

What are you saying is that if 5 years ago I was making a site where I write about a RTS what have heroes neaw i can sue Blizzard ? or if I was writing about a game in what you can make custom ships and take care of a solar system now i can sue MicroProse ?
Of curse no ! anyone can make this type of games.
You don''t see Blizzard sue the one who makes RTS games

Yes right now I don''t have any copyright concerns because I haven''t say any thing.

OK. OK. I understand that publishers get many emails, which don''t even deserve read ... etc
I will make a demo and i will change the site ..

I want to know if there is a publisher interested by my game. And I find out. No there isn''t. The big publishers already have contracts with some developers and the little publishers .... and all want to see the product ...
I understand them ...
Please don''t speak about the site any more, I will change it ...
Take a look at Garage Games. They publish small games, and they might take yours if you follow the advice the others gave you (make a design doc, good website, lost of info and a demo, etcetera). I don''t know what their conditions are though, but it''s somewhere on their site. Just follow the "Make games" link.

PaulCesar,
You are entirely correct - I misread his post and thought he was saying that only large companies had the resources to make games.
damn I hate being wrong

Radus,
You really don''t need to worry about them stealing your ideas. Publishers and developers have too many ideas of their own and they are all convinced that their idea is the best ever. Provided you are a careful you have nothing to worry about.

Prepare you demo and your documentation first. Then, only when you are ready to sell your game to publishers, you put up your new web site with information about the game.

Ha. I have a design document from five years ago that covers a RTS with heroes and a hero system. That was the second time one of my ''new'' ideas/designs made it into a Blizzard game. I was thinking about writing them and tell them I was two steps ahead of their designers and to give me a job...But now I have a job so its not a high priority. Makes me feel confident that at least some aspects of my design skills are cutting edge.
The Tyr project is here.

Just a thought for the original poster.

In my opinion the important thing when looking for a publisher would be to think about how you are MAKING your product but how you are SELLING your product.

Take Benneton(was this spelled correctly) for example. They''ve got an amaising advertising department, they''re a big name in clothes industry and sell expensive clothes but I heard of a lot of people buying their clothes and having clothes seriously leak fabric colour at its first wash.

I only commented on the site, as I know nothing about the game itself

And I am sure no one is impressed by my Tetris game, but I don''t ask you to! I only did it for my own pleasure!

If you fix the site (which you said you would) I''m sure your chances of finding a publisher increases a lot!

Have a nice time, and good luck!

If you have something REALLY ORIGINAL and you cannot afford to allow others to steal your idea before you do it first, you should wait until you have it mostly completed, then put up the website and look for a publisher. This way you know you have a major head start, and you will be able to show the publisher your project. You might want to also look into N.D.A''s to ensure people you show your work to cannot steal your ideas.
