Hi...
Sorry you guys are having problem with demo...
But I just cant find the cause of it... It runs on most win2K/XP machines but for some reason crashes on quite some win98(se) machinses... I belive there''s something wrong with compiler/OS combination (I''m using winXP / MS VisualStudio.NET beta2)
I''ve also uploaded new verison of demo to
www2.arnes.si/~ssdmtera/Download/Tech-No.zip
Try it out... I also added another effect... Fireworks... The whole point of this demo was that everything is computer generated.. texture.. fonts ( from windows TT to texture )...
you can switch between scenes using keys 1 and 2 (numbers above letters)

_DarkWIng_,
A common cause for some programs crashing on Win98 and not on 2k (or even running) is that some API functions require that you pre-initialize certain output variables.
for example, the sixth parameter of RegQueryValueEx();
and the variable we''ll use : dwIrritating;
This compiles perfectly, no errors, no warnings (maybe the blahs
will give you a warning, but ignore those... hehe)
in Win2k this works with no problems.
in Win98, undefined results take place, but none of those include working properly.
to run well on Win98, it should look like this :
Anyway, other WinAPI functions are just as funny, and you''ll never notice the problems if you''re compiling on Win2k+.
go figure.
I hope this goes to help get Win98 running the demo, I''d really like to see it, but don''t wanna download if Win98 won''t run it!
If it doesn''t help, well, oh well.
Good luck!

ATronic : XP si the BEST system evr.. forgat about 9x/me systems.. they are long history (for me they were history when win2k rc2 came out).... XP runs 99% of win9x programs... in fact they run even better.. it even runs DOS programs/games (with sound
) ... so far I realy can''t complain...

Going off topic, I''m running XP final corporate and this pretty damn nice. The only problem is some games (NFS5, Red Faction demo, WorldDance (demo), etc.) don''t run.. either crash to desktop giving a directx error ( I have DX8) or rebooting my computer (in the case of NFS5)
Overall nice OS, haven''t done any programming yet.
