The fork in the pitch road

Hello Everyone,

I have an idea/game design document I am going to try and pitch for funding. It is for a children's game with a specific set of parental features. Why? I have kids, a simulation/game programming background, and some time opening up to potentially put into a product.

That being said I am looking for advice on strategy. Should I try to crowdfund? I feel like this may be a viable way to approach the project where I will feel accountable to produce but I've read it can also get kind of crazy with customer interactions.

Another approach could be to try and pitch to a publisher.

Either way, should I get a prototype together beforehand?

Thanks for any advice

Yes. That gives you some time to research the options.
