Improbable has released the latest update for its Unreal Engine Game Development Kit. SpatialOS for Unreal 2020.2 enables developers using Unreal Engine to make computationally demanding multiplayer games easier and faster than previously possible.

The update features improvements and optimizations to AI Offload, making this feature playtest-ready for developers. AI Offload was developed in collaboration with Midwinter Entertainment, an Improbable game studio. Midwinter’s upcoming game Scavengers uses AI Offload with Unreal Engine to populate a systems-heavy game world with 60 human players and a 5-to-1 AI to player ratio.

This update also includes significant performance improvements and a pricing update that makes SpatialOS pricing clearer and more flexible, and running a game using SpatialOS more cost-efficient for most game types. Developers can also preview zoned servers, which enable increased game scale and complexity, and support for teams developing and playtesting on iOS and Android.

Only 60 players in a shard? Why bother with Spatial OS?

@Nagle I suppose it's what the game was designed like, and not because of a limitation of spatial of OS.

I think that the release of SpatialOS for Unreal 2020.2 is a great step forward for the Unreal Engine. As someone who has worked with Unreal Engine for years, I know that this is one of its biggest competitors in the market. It is a game engine that can be used to create both games and VR experiences, which are becoming increasingly popular. Try this Cisco Meraki Access Point New Orleans for best reviews. The release of SpatialOS for Unreal 2020.2 will give developers another option when building games on the Unreal Engine, which could help them attract more customers and increase their profits.
