Hello,

CROSS-Posting this "necro" update to this project, as for some reason there seems to be some interest (views and downloads, even a thread - why is this under construction?) for this project. Have no idea why, or where it came from, but thought to update a couple things on the lending page and the project overall.

Been watching this for years now (the analytics), and it's been a constant reminder ever since. Unfortunately, to make an RPG, a choice game such as this even, requires great amounts of resources and talent; of which there are none available at the moment (even if there were some good things about this project). Seeing the occasional downloads and visits has reminded why this project came to be: Wanted to create a true choice game, where each choices you made, took you down a different path. Obviously, this cave-branching method is flawed and quickly runs out of proportions (too many threads to follow). Of course, at the time, this was all known, and initially the idea was to make a game that lasts for 10-15 minutes, which then to be re-playable hundreds of times. Even creating this short amount of gameplay, with this sort of never-ending branching meant thousands of lines of text, which ultimately caused its demise. Unfortunately, the technical limitations of my then (and current) workstation could not allow such a thing, and the engine (that the game is built upon) just simply could not hold the amount of simple resources needed for this game, and became unstable to work with (literally halted in place). Hence, this project was shut down soon after...

Originally, it was never meant to be more than an experiment: This was just a piece that went into a portfolio of a writer's (who hoped to join the industry; obviously that never happened). Despite that, however, as choice games (the book ones) had a fundamental place in one's heart, well RPGs in general, it was obvious to create something, with the available skills and resources at the time. Unfortunately, life kicked in, and other, more pressing issues and project had to come forth. Realistically speaking, in a way, it's for the better that this game didn't made it. It is unfortunate that the main story, the story of the Twelf, has been totally left off, as there were no room for that to be implemented in (the first place). It was supposed to be this "magical" (animal) kingdom, about to fall into chaos. Hence, the game was meant to be that "person-walks-into-another-dimension" type of thing (and that is where the story beings); that's why there are noises that the player hears...

In all earnest, the vision, for this game even, was far too ambitious for one person to tackle, especially when it came to create art. The latter was the single biggest drawback of this project: the ability to create eye-pleasing, gorgeous assets (something that is beyond one's capabilities). A team of people would've required to complete this; in a timely fashion. Something, the ambitions, that is still present in my work, and forever be. Still hoping that someday, other's will enjoy these creations, and appreciate the love and work behind them.

take care,
