does directsound have to have all sounds in same format?

Does DirectSound support having multiple buffers playing sounds at different formats (different bits per sample, different number of channels, etc)? I want to be as safe as possible - I am particularly worried about potential problems with Vista (which I already know to be pretty finnicky about DirectSound.) Thanks for any help, Greg

There's no problems mixing different formats, but it's more CPU intensive. It's best to keep the format the same for most, if not all of your buffers.
