Introduction: Who am I and what is my vision?

Hello dear readers,

my name is Maximilian, I come from Germany and have been a passionate player of strategy games since I was a child. However, with every game I have played, there have always been aspects that have bothered me. That's why I spent over a year collecting all these negative points and developing a game concept that, in my opinion, has the potential to become something truly great.

What is it about?

The game concept is set in the Middle Ages and combines elements of economics, warfare and city-building. Players have almost unlimited freedom to pursue their own strategy. Whether peaceful economic activity, military expansion or a life of plundering – anything is possible, nothing is predetermined.

The basic idea is to create a dynamic world in which players can interact and support each other. For example, players focused on the economy could sell goods to players focused on the military, while the latter could offer protection. A vibrant ecosystem will develop in which trade, alliances and conflicts play a central role.

The setting: from a small village to a mighty fortress

Every player starts with a small building, a hero and some resources. This building can grow into a village, then into a town and finally into a fortress or even a large castle. There are hardly any restrictions on how many villages, towns or castles a player can own.

If you don't want to expand, you can join a feudal lord or an alliance, command troops or take care of the administration of the lands. Alternatively, you could raid your neighbors, buy troops at the market and live a life of robbery.

The world map is designed to create strategic bottlenecks where major battles take place. These key positions are hotly contested as they are crucial for the expansion of players, alliances or kingdoms.

Economy and military: a dynamic balance

The game is divided into a level system, both in the area of the economy and in military leadership:

  • Troops: There are troops from level 1 to level 10. Higher levels mean higher training and maintenance costs, with food consumption remaining constant.
  • Resource production: Players can build more specialized buildings through experience, such as level 2 or 3 quarries, to increase their production. These resources are essential for building large castles or selling them on the market.

The economy is essential for waging war. Large armies require food, weapons and other resources, which creates a flourishing market. Players who train strong troops can sell them to economically oriented players or station them with them to provide protection.

All resources – from fruit to building materials to troops or even entire castles – can be traded on the market. In addition, there is a contract system where players can make long-term agreements, e.g.

  • Player A delivers X (e.g. wood) to player B for 7 days and receives Y (e.g. gold).
  • Peace treaties or the provision of troops (mercenaries) can also be part of such contracts.

Objectives and challenges

The game offers various objectives and challenges:

  • Players can join forces in alliances or houses to fight together against AI opponents, collect resources or conquer the map.
  • Alliances that control more than 70% of the map win the game.
  • AI opponents come back stronger after they are defeated. If they are defeated too often, it becomes increasingly difficult to control them.

Wait times are reduced to a minimum. Buildings and castle sections should be quickly completed, depending on the available population and builders. The only long-term bottleneck is the required resources.

Financing and monetization

The game is to be financed in the long term as follows:

  • One-time purchase price of about €30.
  • After purchase, players receive 2 months of game time. After that, a subscription for about €13.99 per month can be purchased.
  • Additional revenue will be generated through cosmetic content (skins for troops). These can either be earned in the game or optionally purchased with real money.

Important: There will be no Pay2Win – all players have the same chances.

My current status and search for support

I am not a complete novice when it comes to programming, but I am inexperienced in game development. I started developing the game in Unreal Engine 5.5, but I am aware that someone with a little experience could catch up to my progress in a few hours. My main skill lies in project management, which I have learned extensively in my 28 years of life.

Therefore, I am looking for support to implement this project. I am looking for people with the following skills:

  • Creating websites
  • 3D modeling (e.g. with Blender)
  • Game development, especially with a focus on strategy games
  • General support and collaborators

Since I am starting this project from my “hobby room”, I have limited financial resources. Therefore, I am happy to welcome supporters who also see this project as a hobby and want to contribute their enthusiasm for game development.

Conclusion: Creating a great game together

If you like this concept and want to be part of an ambitious project, I would be happy to receive your support. Let's create a game together that revolutionizes the world of strategy games!

Thank you for reading!

Maximilian
