The Great Tribes Devblog #2 (Work on the textures)

I was faced with a difficult task. It was necessary to develop an overall color scheme for the terrain textures.
Initially, the textures looked like this:

There was a very long search for different colors

The last variant was:

But we have a team again boil the dispute

And now we can't choose from the last two variants:

Am asking help with choice!

If you are going with this seeming palette approach, then you don't actually have to choose, you could change the palette at runtime, to represent, e.g. different times of day, seasons.

That said if I was looking at those 4 variations as photographs:

I would suggest they represent the same scene with different white balance, the 2nd being the most neutral, and the first and third being yellow tinged (perhaps bright sunlight) and the 4th being under cloud cover.

Personally if I had to choose 1, i'd choose the most neutral, so that all the graphics can be made with neutral colour balance, and then add themes by tweaking the balance, perhaps in a shader (maybe a 3d look up table (LUT)).

Thanks for the comment!

I can see why you have trouble choosing, they both look really good! :)
