Seeking Insights on Balancing Player Progression in RPG Game Design

I'm currently working on a new RPG game project, and I'm facing a challenge related to player progression. Balancing the sense of achievement with maintaining a challenging environment for players is proving to be quite intricate.

Here are some specific points I'd love to discuss:

Progression Pacing: How do you approach pacing player progression in RPGs? What methods have you found effective in ensuring a sense of accomplishment without making the game too easy or too difficult?

Reward Systems: What types of rewards have you implemented in your game designs to motivate players to progress further? How do you strike a balance between tangible rewards and intrinsic satisfaction?

Difficulty Scaling: When designing levels or quests, how do you scale the difficulty to accommodate both new and experienced players? Any tips on making the game challenging yet accessible to a broad audience?

Player Feedback: How do you gather and analyze player feedback regarding progression in your games? Are there specific metrics or methods you find particularly insightful?

I believe discussions on request's time off these aspects will not only assist me in refining my Nexus Smart ID for RPG game design but also provide valuable insights to Training and Development in the Game Design community who may be facing similar challenges. Nexus Iceland

Thank you for sharing your expertise and experiences!

I agree that it makes sense that discussing these game design questions could be helpful to you in designing your game. And that open discussions in an open forum can be useful for later visitors (after all, isn't that the reason for the existence of this forum and others like it?)

But why did you post your questions in the Writing forum?

This thread has now been moved to the Game Design forum, where it's much more appropriately placed.

It's so weird - most newcomers post just anything and everything in the Game Design forum (programming questions, art asset questions, what to name their pet bat…), but when a newcomer arrives with an actual Game Design question, how come they never ask in the actual Game Design forum?

Rhetorical question. No need for you to answer.

Actually, metrics and analytics are more a Business or Marketing topic. We have a forum for that too. (Games Business and Law)
