KOSMO ULTIMATE — Building My Own 2D Shooter in Godot

Hey everyone!

I’m currently developing KOSMO ULTIMATE, a 2D action shooter made with Godot.

The idea is simple: survive waves of enemies, destroy bosses, upgrade your character and see how far you can go.

🚀 What is KOSMO ULTIMATE?

KOSMO ULTIMATE is a fast-paced 2D shooter focused on enemy waves and progression.

You start relatively weak, but as you survive longer, the game becomes more chaotic. More enemies appear, stronger enemies join the fight, and eventually you have to face bosses.

The goal is simple:

Survive. Upgrade. Destroy everything.

👾 Enemies and Bosses

One of the things I’ve been spending a lot of time on is the enemy system.

There are different types of enemies with different behaviors and speeds. I’m also working on bosses and mini-bosses to make the later waves much more challenging.

I want every wave to feel a little different instead of simply spawning more of the same enemy.

⚡ Progression

KOSMO ULTIMATE also has a progression system.

During a run, the player can become stronger through upgrades. Damage, weapons and other gameplay elements can improve as the player progresses.

The idea is to make every run feel like you are building a stronger version of your character.

🛠️ Developing It in Godot

I’m making the game in Godot, and a lot of the development has been experimenting with different systems and fixing problems along the way.

Some of the systems I’ve worked on include:

  • Enemy spawning

  • Enemy waves

  • Bosses and mini-bosses

  • Player progression

  • Health and stamina

  • Weapons and ammunition

  • XP and levels

  • UI systems

  • Different enemy types

Some features were surprisingly difficult to get working correctly, especially when multiple systems had to communicate with each other.

But that’s also one of the most interesting parts of making a game yourself.

🔥 What’s Next?

I’m still actively developing KOSMO ULTIMATE.

My next goals are to improve the enemy variety, add more interesting boss fights, improve the progression system and make the overall gameplay feel better.

I also want to keep improving the visuals and effects so the game feels more polished.

This is only the beginning.

If you’re interested in following the development, I’ll be sharing more updates as I continue working on the game.
