Maya - creating hair
I want to know how i can make hair like the hair in dragon ball using Maya 4.
I would like some ideas and opinions
Thank U
if you´re using unlimited then you have Maya Fur included. but since you shelled out a couple of thousand bucks extra you knew that of course.
I recently saw on a website a technic to model hairs.
I don''t remember which software it was, but I think it can be adapted on any software.
The basic idea is to deal with hair strand (argh, I don''t know if it''s the good word, my english is sooo poor... If it''s sound weird, sorry....)
So, you create a few 10s of patchs/NURBS/whatever the basic shape is simply curved. The basic texture is a bunch of vertical lines.
Then you "plant" each patch on the head and you arrange them according to the hair style

That''s how Squaresoft did it in the Final Fantasy games FMV sequences, isn''t it? Overlapping surfaces with hair as textures.
