Hellow I am trying to run an example from a book, the compiler is looking for the SDK common files. I installed the common files in D drive instead of the C: where the author expected them. I looked in in all the example source code files, I looked as well in the project settings. I could not find where the copiler got his information about the file path as per the message mentioned below. Also I would like to know what shall I correct when I get the warning that the compiler could not build the class info. thanks Error message 3dapp.cpp fatal error C1083: Cannot open source file: ''C:\mssdk\samples\Multimedia\Common\src\d3dapp.cpp'': No such file or directory If love is illusion and hate is real, I would rather be crazy
I would love going home to M7, but I can't detect black holes.

is that book Beginning Direct3D Game Programming?

well anyway, you know what you can do, make that exact directory and put their all the source codes, that would work, or you could change the filepaths etc., on the vc,

Yes Mickey it is that damn book., but I do not want to make another copy. , I know that works.

What puzzels me is how the compiler is getting this path info. so I can go their and change it. It is neither in the projects settings nor in the tools/option/directories. I also could not find it in the header and class source files.

Thanks

If that's the case, I'm imagining its the code that's requesting the file in a certain place, not the compiler. So I would either change your paths to match theirs, or try and find in the code (if this is the case) it requests that file and change it.

EDIT2: Also found something that might be of use (VC++ 6). If you go under project->settings, then click the resources tab, there is a little box that says "Additional resource include directories" Dunno if this is what its for, but you might try adding the desired file path here and see if it helps.

EDIT: My suggestion might be totally off; just warning ya

I think when the author added those files to the project, these files were on his C: drive. He didn''t intentionally hardcode anything, it''s just a coincidence. Try removing all common files from your project and readding them from wherever place you put them to.

Yes that what I did and it worked fine. It is just annoying when simple problems holds you up when I should spend time on the juice.

Thanks
