Hi, does anybody know how to implement TreeViews and other "advanced" controls _without_ using MFC under Windows? Thing is, I don''t know MFC and (unless you can convince me otherwise ;-)), I cannot see, if it is really worth learning. Is it clean? Is it fast? Is it readable? Is it extendable? Greetings, Beren

First of all, you need to link with "comctl32.lib" and include "commctrl.h" You need to call InitCommonControls() at the beginning of your program (preferably before Window creation).

There''s a whole section dedicated to the Win32 Common Controls in MSDN. I suggest you take a look. For some of them (for example the toolbar), you can simply call CreateToolbarEx(...), but with the Treeview it isn''t that simple. You have to call CreateWindowEx, and set the window class name to be "SysTreeView32". I''ve been unable to find the class names in MSDN, but if you read the CommCtrl.h file, then search for HEADER or TREEVIEW etc. then you''ll find what you''re looking for.

Thanks, -Thork-, that''s what I''ve been looking for -- I will check it out (and hopefully, I won''t get too many problems ;-))

daerid: [POE]?? Sorry, my "Chattish" is even worse than my English ;-)) What would you like to tell me?

Update your Platform SDK and look in the docs it provides (or the docs that come with VS.Net if you have that). It''s all there.
