Does DirectX limit the fps? I don't seem to be able to get heigher fps no matter how little I render. Could you also show me a way to estimate the fps in case I'm doing it all wrong. Thanks [edited by - ArchMiffo on June 19, 2002 10:58:45 AM]

Frame rate in full screen is limited to the refresh rate of your monitor. In windowed mode theres no limit.

I also believe that you cannot make the program run faster than vSync. Device creation will fail.

You can still use Flip but use the DONOTWAIT flag when calling the surface flip.
Note: You need to create the device to support this option, check out the SDK.

Of course you can render in full screen with frame rates higher than VSync. You should pass in the D3DPRESENT_INTERVAL_IMMEDIATE to the D3DPRESENT_PARAMETERS structure. Look for it in the DirectX Help file.

Yup, Vincent Wolf is completely right here.
And the presentation interval isn''t unlimited in
windowed, it must always be set to DEFAULT, which
means it''ll use the same interval as windows uses.

MFC is sorta like the swedish police... It''''s full of crap, and nothing can communicate with anything else.
