I want to use std::vector to store my directdrawsurfaces, but there''s something which I don''t like about it: to get a surface I have to iterate trough the entire list to get the right surface. Which means it''s slow...at least not optimal. So what is the general method to load surfaces, and retrieve them when you need them. Keeping in mind I may have to draw the same surface multiple times a frame, so iterating a list to get it each time I draw it seems like overhead. Any thoughts? Thanks, Tristan

You can access the surface via your_vector[surface_index]

I will not make a list of links... I will not make a list of links... I will not make a list of links...
