I have a problem on my computer linking my DirectX programs in Release mode. It works perfect in Debug but not in Release. It seems to be something with DirectX because Release linking works if don''t use it(DirectX). I can''t figure out what is wrong. I have reinstalled VC++ 6 and the DirectX6 SDK but with no difference at all. I printed out the linkers debugging messages and it say something about "skipping functions" which it doesn''t do in the Debug linking process. What does that mean and what am I doing wrong???? I need an answer SOON because it''s driving me insane.....

make sure that you have included the same libraries for debug and release builds...although, if you left them out there should be "unresolved external .." errors instead of "skipping functions..".

VC, by default, displays settings for the Debug version of your program -- you probably just linked them with that version. Go back into project settings, then make sure you have Win32 Release selected in the left part of the window. Then just add in the DX libs again.

Good Luck!

To make things even simpler....

When setting up your linker in the project settings dialog, use the "All Configurations" option so you only have to set them up once.
