Hi, If you read the subject then you have probably guessed I''m looking for a couple of artists. Before I go any further though I want to explain a few things. I see many posts in this forum everyday of people looking for groups to start a game project. I think its great but I know a few here that don''t take some of them seriously so that is why I want to lay down a bit of background first about this particular one. At the present time there are two people involved in this, myself and another in charge of design. This isn''t something that was thought up yesterday, or today. We have been working on this thing for close to six months now, and while we are still in design phase we are very close to wrapping it up. That isn''t to say things won''t change but we are at a point where it is almost time to start implementing the game. Right now we are only looking for two artists to begin but there is a pretty good possibility we will need additional coders somewhere in the near future. Though the genre of the game is certainly not new we feel we have a very original premise that will make this game easily stand out from the others. I''ll save the details for the interested but I will say that it is a 3D first person multiplayer online role playing game. Right about now you are probably thinking, great, another RPG. Don''t think we haven''t thought that I promise though, you won''t be dissapointed. So if you are an artist with experience in creating graphics in Lightwave and 3D Studio Max then this might be the project for you. If so, contact us at the email address below. One last thing... I know some get furious when someone says this but I have to warn you now. There is NO promise of income from this, unless of course the quality of the game is such that it can be sold. I really wish it could be another way and I''m not fond of doing it this way but when you are starting out in this industry all we really have is passion for writing great games and dreams. But that is the most important thing right? The rest will follow. ~Vlarr Lead Programmer, Zephyr Studios Vlarr@darkenia.com ICQ # 50607306

Hey,

I just gave that email you sent me to my partner and we're going to be meeting this afternoon to discuss it. If you want we can meet you anytime today between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m EST. We can meet in the chat room here if necessary.

Also I recommend that you write me here most of the time. I only have access to AOL at home, whereas I can check here for new messages from home and school.

Let me say personally that I believe you're right on the money about great games and dreams. Those are the elements that breed success.

Okay, sounds good...

I just have to run a few errands and then I''m set to go. So I''ll be in Gamedev chat around 4 EST, ok? That should still give us all a good two hours.

Till then...

Hey Guys:

Sorry I didn''t get to email you guys over the weekend. I had a big job interview on Monday, and I spent the entire weekend working on a demo reel. I didn''t see you guys in the Gamedev chat room. Granted, I haven''t checked my mail all weekend, but I was wondering what you thought of that song I sent you for the soundtrack. I got an email from artsit saying he''s interested, and wants to know more about the game. The band is #1 on MP3.com''s Gothic Metal chart. On top of that, his motif is vampires. I''ll check my mail when I get home. Talk to you later.

Hi : )

I hope your interview went great !! We will keep our fingers
crossed for you .. We will send you the stuff we promised in a couple of days. I am almost done gathering it.. had sort of a busy week with work so didn''t get to do it as quickly as I had hoped : ( We loved the song by the way

As far as meeting again, how is Monday or Wednesday for you ? late in the afternoon is better for us. Anyway, let us know.. if those days aren''t good we can look for a different day. Til then...

That's cool. I'll forward the message to Rain. Monday is fine with me. I'm Rain could probably be there too. We can meet in the chat room again. I've got class 'til noon your time, but I'm free the rest of the afternoon.

Oh by the way, the guy who did the song wrote this:

I'm glad you like my music! I'd like some more info on this game of
yours, I might be interested. It'd certainly be cool to be on a game
soundtrack.

I suggest Myrrh, that you write him because you're the one who's keen on all the details. We all play our cards right this game could be a huge success.

Ok. I've talked to Rain and she says she can be here tomorrow from 3:30 to 5:30 Mountain time which would be 2:30 to 4:30 your time. That works for me. How about you two? We're both ready to hit the ground running on this thing. Also, it's now unanimous that we all like the song I suggested. I suggest Myrr reply to Smitemeister soon because he's really interested in this. I'll talk to you guys tomorrow.

All right you guys. We really need to talk. We are not having enough communication. One posted message a week between the four of us is not going to hack it. We should agree on a consistent time at least once a week that we all meet online to discuss the state of the project both short and long term. I''ve already got scene ideas, methods for animating magic spells, and even concepts for characters. However if we don''t communicate, nothing will get done.

Also, I know you said that this project was not a big hurry, but we really should all sit down and come up with some kind of time frame. If we don''t, I''m concerned that everything is going to keep getting pushed back again and again and we''ll have nothing to show.

Now I''m going to be here tomorrow from 1:00 until 2:30 your time. In the meantime, you might wish to email me and Rain. She''s getting very impatient. I like your conceptual idea, and I''m willing to commit to it. However, that commitment needs to come both ways. I hope to hear from you soon.

Agreed.

I have to apologize, things have gotten a little crazy around here for a bit and well, frankly I completly let it slip. Don''t worry though, we are just as commited, heck, its all we ever work on, heh. Expect an email tonight/tomorrow with much content. I''ve been working pretty constantly on different aspects of the engine for the last week and its coming along great. Give Rain our apologies, not a perfect beginning I know. I''ll ask Myrrh when the next good time is for her to meet. Also, if ever she can''t make it, due to work or whatever, I can be there. So either way, we''ll get the ball rolling consistently. This IS going to be a success. A virtual team like this isn''t easy, but we''ll work things out. Initially its a bit tough, because like you said, we don''t have set times yet, etc. So I agree, lets work that out first. Have to keep the lines open. Anyway you''ll hear from me soon.

I''m glad to hear from you. Right now the first thing to do is set up that weekly meeting time. The most ideal time is when we have all our technical resources right in front of us. That way we can work more efficiently. We''ll simply exchange the necessary files while we work and talk. My best time is somewhere between Friday mornings and Sunday afternoons. During the week I''m usually at school. I''ll ask Rain to make a post here too. Talk to you later.

All right, we need to decide when we''re going to meet each weekend. I''ve already got an idea for one of the playable characters. I may have also found another artist willing to jump on the team. I''ve been working with him all term, and he knows what he''s doing. I can have him help build the layout. I''ll keep you posted on that. I''d appreciate it if you could write me sometime this evening.
