sup with all the hostility in this thread? seems like a pretty straight forward request for a teacher. and in response to all the "what do you need a teacher for?" people, well, some people are much better at learning things from teachers than books. shocking. people actually have different ways of learning.
anyway, MagsOfWar, the easiest way to find a teacher is go to your local community college (assuming you are in the US) and sign up for a class. typically they are about $10-$20 and require no previous knowledge of anything.
if you are in high school or are pre-highschool, find a teacher who knows math or computers and ask them if they know anyone who would like to teach them programming.
barring those 2 options, the majority of places i''ve ever been geographically have community learning centers or computer learning centers that could help you out also though for more money than the above options.
any C++ compiler will let you make windows programs as long as you have all the right headers and libraries to include/link to. i''d suggest Borland Free command line compiler, or g++ if you have cygwin installed. if you can afford ~$100 get Microsoft VC++.net

Update on college cost: Colleges charge by the credit. In a state where you have been a resident for 5+ years, you can get a pretty cheap rate. My college runs 50 dollars a credit and classes usually run about 3 credits. Night classes are availiable in most subjects.
My advice: Check out your local college now to get a class on C++. After you graduate high school..goto college full time. Hopefully by then you will have made a solid decision as to what you want to be when you grow up.

Hey guys thanks alot and I"m terribly sorry the way I acted. :/
I do have some things that create a problem. I have no teachers who can help me...I have no college I can go to.
I will of course have to find a tut I suppose and I thank you for your time.
But since no one here is willing ot teach (eys I agree..and understnad...except for the bastard who claled me a rude bitch, then he can go striaght to hell as you should get to knwo why the person is acting the way he/she is before starting up on that shit), I will leave quietly and hopefully get questions answered here.
BUT! If you do want to help me out here''s my followwing questoins:
YOu can help me by teaching me (Covered that most likely htat''s a no, which is fine :-)) and can contact me through any of the above IM''s (no...I did NOT say that''s where I would be taught..just to reach me)
If no one will teach me what compiler should I start out wiht? I do know fairly good html and that''s it, nuthin else, no php or perl or nuthin. I do know a little basic visual basic but that''s also it. Also I need a free compiler
To go with the free compiler I need a free tutorial...
I know I say free a lot but I''ve got things i relaly with not to speak about and i hope you understnad that...
The following I do have and did happen to pick up
C++ for dummies
with it came Gnu C++ compiler...but is a DOS Programming.
Should I stick with what I have and try to learn from that or is it the same on starting to program windows??
I thank you all SOOOO MUCH for your help and again sorry that I have this weird "attitude"..:/, I try to quit it but....
THANKS!!

:-) I''m new, how bout you?
I won''t cry for you Argentina...
It doesn''t matter if you have a teacher. Sure it would be great to get somebody to do your bitch work, but that''s not in the true spirit of this forum.
I guarentee you almost 90% of the people on these boards taught themselves C/C++, DirectX, OpenGL, and everything else you can think of by reading books and searching on Google.
So here''s what you do:
There, this will keep you busy for the next 2-3 years. Let the rest of us know when you''ve gotten this far.
Peace,

So here''s what you do:
1) Keep your dumbest newbie requests to yourself.
2) Don''t post asking for more than one thing at a time. Asking someone to teach you C++ is like asking 5 billion questions at one time.
3) Get MSVC++ 6.0 Introductory Edition (Free)
4) Read SAMS Teach Yourself C++ In 21 Days (and don''t expect to learn C++ In 21 Days, its just a title not a guarentee).
5) Read C++ Unleashed by the same author as "C++ In 21 Days".
6) Read Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus.
There, this will keep you busy for the next 2-3 years. Let the rest of us know when you''ve gotten this far.

Wtf is that about? My god if I can''t ask questions here what the hell is htis place for?? God damnit why the hell not be helpful? Shit I just aske da question I didn''t know that I would get tha treponce and that it woudl be a problem!! A simple "I''m sorry but I won''t teacH" or a no post at all woudl''ve been great so why no tjust shut the hell up?
Now the rest I do have and tahnk you for telling me, but you need to learn your attitude towards people...my god......

Hey man, settle down, all my comments were made out of love (with a spoonful of suger - mary poppins).
I didn''t intend to be mean, but come on, you have to admit asking somebody to teach you C++ is a pretty dumb request.
If I had intended to be mean I would not have given you the other 5 tips.
Good luck with your learning
