Visual C++ docs error

I just installed Visual C++ intro edition(came with a book) and when I try to use the accompanying documentation or help menus it locks up during the ''initializing for first use'' process. Any ideas? I need the docs, man I can''t make any sense of this thing without ''em. Thanks. BTW - I searched Microsoft''s site and there was no mention of this issue, nor could I find any applicable patches, etc. Also, I''ve removed and reinstalled just to be sure; same problem...DAMMIT

Can you install MSDN seperately? Look for an MSDN setup executable on the CD.

you can also try servicepacking msvc and getting an updated html help package somewhere on ms site.

I actually tried that 1st and couldnt find it. Thats why I did the complete reinstalls.

I found a folder that looked promising (had the string ''doc'' as part of its name lol) but it wasnt it. Grrr
