Beta testing

What is the way to become a beta tester for DirectX 9.0 ?
You''re too late!, the DX9 programme has been running for quite a while now. You''ll have to wait for DX10 if you want to beta test DX.
If you have some reason why you NEED to be on the beta program (say you''re a commercial developer who NEEDS to test some stuff or you''re a hardware manufacturer etc), then you could always send an email to: directx@microsoft.com which is the official address for those kinds of requests.

Ypu can get a leaked copy of the DX9 beta from Here. Although as the wee message box thing says, you'll need to reinstall windows when the beta expires, unless you have a valid beta ID.

Loser.
On the top 10 list of idiotic things to do on a development message board, posting links to illegal software is #1. Mainly because some of the people on this message board get "paid" to develop software, and you could be ripping them off. Granted DX is free, however anyone could''ve signed up onto the beta and gotten it legally, not to mention that it will eventually be out for public downloads once the beta is finished. Then there is the whole "beta" thing. It''s incomplete software filled with bugs. So if your willing to install it, you should be ready for the possability of having to reformat your machine if anything goes wrong.
P.S. it''s pretty sad to "pirate" free software because you can''t wait a few months for the final release. What''s next are you going to walk into a store and steal candy that has a sign above it that says free?

Yeah, i thought that link might get taken down...

I was merely posting that link so that Igor (or anyone else) can get it if they want to. I know that its a really bad idea. Most people i speak to wanting onto beta programs (DX especially) just want to be on the beta program to see what the new version will look like.
ISTR that (for the DX8 beta at least) you had to fill in reports or something? At leat you had to be an esablished developer - i couldn't get onto the DX8 beta program because i'm not an established developer.

Leaked betas, and even worse leaked betas with the expiry screens hacked out can cause quite a few hassles, particularly when peoople never upgrade to the final retail build.
Those people then see problems with games later down the line. And instead of moaning at the people who leaked the betas, they moan at & blame the developers of the games, Microsoft and DirectX in general (many end users already misattribute machine instability problems with DirectX).

Wait, did any of you even go there? It displays a page singing "You are an idiot, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha." then it repeats. Gosh, none of you actually went there?

There was a link there, but it was replaced with the link to nes8bit''s "warez" page.
