how do you pronounce:
Bezier
and
Runge-Katta
?
a2k
Bezier is exactly how it looks - "Bezz-ee-er" (I think)...
Never heard of the other one...

Tried a dictionary yet?
yes, i''ve tried a dictionary. well, m-w.com and the game dictionary.
what it came up with in m-w.com is
Beziers which is a geographic location, but i''m sure it''s pronounced the same way. the audio on m-w.com was pronounced the way Yann L said it.
i think this is right too.
the way they pronounced it is bay-zhae''
where zh is pronounced like a cross between sh and j, like
Jean-Luc Picard.

Bay - zee - ei (as in eight)
Runj Katter
(like gunge) (like matter)
well, actually, "Runge-Kutta" is like "roongay cootar" ;o)
and that''s how they pronounce it at my university.

a2k : Beziers is a French guy, and it''s polite to pronounce the French way. Well, at least my mum taught me to pronounce surnames so that the person would recognise themselves if you talked to them... so a French guy wouldnt understand if you mispronouced it, but then again, we are used to English speaking people not being able to pronounce all the diphtongues we have, actually, even between us we have difficulty a agreeing, and pronounciation of some diphtongues vary *greatly* with the region.
I am French, with a Spanish name, NO ONE ever pronounces my name correctly, even French people, especially when they try to pronounce it Spanish style
Yann L is the nearest for how to pronounce it. the problem being that you dont have an "é" sound in English, you always end up pronouncing "ay", like when you *all* turn the latin expression "per se" into "per say" (which BTW is incorrect spelling). But it''s OK, asking how to pronounce is already a nice effort
I have a better one for you guys ? How would you pronounce Dijkstra ? ahahaha
(I used to pronounce all the letters, but if it''s a dutch/flamish name like I think, it''s much easier to say than I used to think)
Sancte Isidore ora pro nobis !

Well, Pierre Bezier was a French guy... (he died on nov. 25 1999).
oops
On the other hand, I checked out and Dijkstra is from Holland, so I guess the correct pronounciation is "Daykstra", right ?
I also checked, and Kutta (not kAtta) *was* Polish, so it would be Kutta with the "u" pronounced as in "you".
And Runge was German, so it would be the same for the "u", and a hard "g", and pronouce the final "e" a bit like in "an" or "a".
