I am going to start a 2d game (using tiles) and i want to make a level designer for it. but the way i would like to make the interface is to have a grid as the "level" and you select a tile to place in the grid either by dragging, clicking or some other means. does anyone have any information on how to do this type of interface?

I''ve done my tile editor with MFC and dialogboxes.
It''s just working great ^^

Use Visual Basic, if all you need to do is make a 2D tilebased map editor. Hell, I''ll send you one that I made a while back if you really want. Just change the texture packs and change how it saves to map files, if you want.
