Got any ideas for a winning entry I can code in four hours?

Personally, I really enjoyed last year''s "A Batch of Elements". Nice visual appeal, good layout, excellent framerate - and I bet it wouldn''t take too long to code.

At the time of your post there were 16 hours remaining by my math. The deadline is 11:59 PM , meaning to-night.

Later,
ZE.

But I have school, then I''m playing Soldat, eating, and intend to go to sleep before 11:59PM. Hence I really only have about 4 hours total free. I''m thinking of making some self modifying program using debug (like A Batch of Elements, but with code that requires skills)

I maintain that my 4E3 entry will own all of you.

Behold the JPEG compression of a non-photoquality image! That alone will crush you!

Come along now, Ben. I know I won''t win, and it''s probable that someone will defeat Ian, since he takes a 0 in originality (though I must say his shadow maps are clever and effective). Anyway, it''s not about the prize. It''s about community recognition and pride in achievement... That card would be hella nice though

Peace,
ZE.

''Ey, nice ass...errr...grass!

I''ve never liked that firecone thing, but your tree (I''m assuming L-Grammar?) is not bad. It just needs some leaves.

Peace and good luck to all,
ZE.

Yea, the cone turned out badly. It was just an experiment in vertex shading which failed. My next try will be with particle systems. The tree, well is just a line list to work out the branching algos. Actually, there are no leaves on the tree. I just colored the final level green. I planned on replacing the lines with textured cylinders and spheres. The grass turned out best, but a bit of a fluke with vertex shading.

And no, this is not my 4E3 entry. I just posted it to amuse myself. Which I seem to be doing alot of today.

You haven''t even seen it! Unless SHil leaked it to you or something

L-Grammer ?

I''m not that sophisticated.
I had to look that one up to find out what it meant.

The limbs are just random vectors with a slight deviation from the parent branch''s vector with a decreasing vector length. I was using a pixel explosion method, but that turned out poorly because of lack of symmetry. It was the most deformed tree you ever saw.

Hmm. Seems to me a lot of knowledgable people are submitting their entries. I was hoping I''ll be against ascii art. Actually, come to think of it, ascii art is definetly a lot more original then the usual 3d stuff
