I was looking to recruit some 3D engine programmers to NYC (you might have seen Hook''s post on the team involved in his Ask Hook column on VoodooExtreme).
I wanted an informal poll to ask you guys (programmers with shipped, quality titles ) -- is relo to NYC for a startup with a senior group of guys hard to swallow, from, say the West Coast?
FYI, this is what Hook posted:
Okay folks, this is directed at you 3D programmers that are studly engine developers but that aren''t necessarily happy with your current jobs. I have a friend who is starting a game development shop in the NE USA (New England/New York area). He prefers to remain anonymous at this time, but I will vouch for him thusly: he''s probably one of the most important game developers of the 1980s and 1990s, and he''s been the heart and soul of several games voted to various computer mag Hall of Fames. If I wasn''t where I am now, I would personally jump at the opportunity to work for him. Yes folks, he''s that good. His startup already has a publishing deal in the works.
So if you''re possibly interested in working with this guy, you can send me an e-mail here at VE and I will forward it on to him. No promises on my part that you''ll hear back, but this is seriously a major opportunity for those of you with lots of talent and that feel that your current situation isn''t giving you the opportunity to shine.
