Recently it seems as if the MSDN search is broken. I can''t seem to find help on common API calls when I need to find out a parameter. Stuff like help on the the uxtheme dll or even simple things such as SetWindowLong... Anyone else experience problems with MSDN recently? --------------------------------------------- Total Instant Messenger. It''s better than AOL.

And google still has all these pages in cache, which is even faster than MSDN (for me at least)

Talking about cache, I noticed google also caches stuff behind pay-to-enter barriers. Like Ign.

They didn’t break it, they added features!

Its not knowing the path but walking it.

Yeah, with C# and all they have put all the useful stuff on Visual C++ 6.0 in the back pages. You have to go to the archive I think.

How to search MSDN using google: SetWindowLong site:msdn.microsoft.com
Much better than the MS search engine.

According to John Dvorak (I think his name is), a PC Magazine columnist, "Most experts navigate the Microsoft website with Google".

With my broadband connection, I downloaded the entire Platform SDK instead together with documentation. I use that in conjunction with the MSDN documentation that came with Visual C++. It's certainly faster as I don't have to rely on the Internet for documentation.

As an additional bonus, the SDK comes with updated headers and libraries too.

Platform SDK

This is all very well, but there are some omissions in the MSDN installation that comes with VC6. The online one is usually more up to date.

Also, which twit screwed up the tables in this thread?
