I wanna know which technique is used to leave skid marks on the ground in a car game? Look at the GTA3 skid marks they are soo nice Well I don''t want them to be that realistic but I just want to know how it is done... is this another picture and done by using multitexturing or what? Because I think it should be hard to find the texture coordinates when it rotate and all..

I would think they are just some decals, there isn''t any need to use multitexturing, just draw some extra polys onto the ground with some lovely blending on.

Look up ''decals'' and blending.

How they actually calculate when and where to put the things is a whole different kettle of fish, maybe they project the base of the wheels onto the surface at the start of a frame, then do it again at the end of the frame, then create the quad between these two points, orienting it along the line between them.

Thank you.. if I understand decals are only alpha blended textured quad exactly at the same place as the other quad we want to draw on..
