Does anyone have any books that they think a programmer interested in hardware would like to read? Along the lines of building a computer? Thanks!!

I would suggest ''Computer Organization & Design - The Hardware Software Interface'' by Patterson and Hennessy. It''s well written and easy to read. If you want to understand how a cpu/computer works, it should be a good starting point.
