If you''re new to programming, you can read "Game Programming Beginners Guide" by Dave Astle.

Else if you''re not a programming beginner, read "How Do I Make Games?: A Path to Game Development" by Geoff Howland.

Depending on your experience, try to start with a game you think would bring you some new skills.

If you want to be a designer, you might want to ask the people on the game design forum. if you want to be a programmer, start by learning a langage and then move on gradually. Also, try doing a search and you''ll find millions of other posts stating exactly what you need to do if you''re a new game programmer.
