Time for the annual summer meteor shower this weekend. Get out and see it. It''s supposed to be good if the weather cooperates.

The Perseid meteor shower. These things are unpredictable, could be a great show or you may see very little. I have spent many a night awaiting the meteors, Leonids included. I have been disappointed many times, but the times for which there was a great show made up for the disappointments.

Anytime you want, you just need 38MP... are we not talking about the same thing here?

Hells yea I''m all prepped and ready for the shower this weekend. They''re predicting a good showing this year as I remember, I''ll have to check that article link a few posts back after this. The last meteor shower I saw was the Leonids last year, which was quite spectacular, you can read my account here.

I''ll post up my report again after i catch the show Sunday or Monday night.

I just spent the night with some friends at a bonfire at our private beach last night..

I counted about 36 ''shooting'' stars..not sure if that''s alot, but it sure was a very cool sight to see!

I went out last night and was able to see quite a few. Plan to go to the mountains this weekend and check it out. Last year was awesome, and I believe this year''s will be great as well.

On a side note, you should also be able to see the asteroid that will swing past the Earth next week. I heard it was just slightly further than the moon. Should be cool to see.

Due to the humidity, and haze. It wasn''t a good viewing night. I did see two that where spectacular. They where so bright, it made me squint when watching them. This was only for a brief time however, may a second each. I bet it was a great show however. Any reports ?

It rained like a mother here last night... funny since we haven''t had crap for rain all year. Anyway, it is a bit clearer tonight... hopefully there will be some leftovers... I will likely be up that late!

Oh man, this year was AWESOME! There were quite a few (at least 10 I counted) that barely skimmed the atmosphere and lasted at least 2-5 minutes each. Eventually, even they burned out in a puff. Then there were about 6 flaming ones that left a vapor trail for a couple of seconds. I was lucky enough to get into the mountains - was a clear night out here in Vegas (and only about 80 degrees at night).

Ahh you had it better than we did. In fact, someone mentioned how clear it was around vegas. I saw a couple that skimmed the atmosphere, but I forgot to count those.
