AGH! MY MODEM!

I''m on a 56k at home since my dad refuses to buy DSL. Therefore... Im stuck with a modem. I got a new modem for Linux and for some reason, my computer sees the modem and the phone dials, but it always disconnects RIGHT after the handshake. If anyone can help PLEASE DO SO!

Try some web sites like ModemHelp.com, modemhelp.net or 56k.com. You might be able to find some answers there. If not, try the site of your modem's maker...

Python eh? Nah, I got the Gnome Dialer thingy on debug. I even heard my modem. I KNOW it''s after the handshake. The thing is, this happened before on windows too. It''s probably good ol'' pacbell...

The /var/log/messages file told me that the modem hangs up after PPP starts up. It isn''t instantaneous but after 2 minutes.
