Winamp 3

WinAmp 3 sucks ass. I dunno if it''s still the BETA 3 but I''ve used that version for awhile. I crashed like every 50 minutes, sometimes used 100% CPU power for playing music. So no, I wait till the full version is out. The fading it OK and the movie playing, I dunno, never tested it.

It plays movies? Shame. I guess all good software becomes bloatware eventually. Integrated software is a such waste of space (in both senses). The end result is it takes 3 times as long to start up because a mass of unnecessary features which aren''t needed. I think I''ll stick with Winamp 2.80 and use a movie player if I need to play movies.

I agree.. v2.8 is probably the last version of winamp i''ll use.. unless some new file type comes out and requires me to upgrade to more BLOATware.
Actually, for the most part I like Winamp 3... Its a lot better than the beta (Got rid of some resource leaks, huge CPU usage, etc.).
But, I hate how long it takes to switch songs. I''m ready to kill!

I'll keep Winamp 2 for a while. Winamp 2 can play mp3's, is small and fast, I don't need anything else.
And Winamp 2 has a lot of keyboard shortcuts so I don't need to move the mouse all the time to go to the next song, and at least in Winamp 3 beta these shortcuts didn't work.

I''ve been using Sonique (www.sonique.com), which is a fairly cool mp3 player in that it seems to have superior quality to Winamp and also has a collection of incredibly nice looking visualization plugins (I would suggest that anyone downloading it get the "Rabbit Hole" plugin). The unfortunate part is that it has the UI from hell, and despite the fact that it looks cool, it''s an incredible pain to use. Bah, doesn''t it suck that it always seems to be like that?
I''m still using WinAmp 2.65! I feel so OLD!

I''m also disappointed that they phased out some of the keyboard short cuts. I liked using the number pad to move between songs because b and z just seem so far away =P
Otherwise, I like Winamp3 so far. The crossfading got annoying so I turned it off and it doesn''t seem to take *that* long to load a song on my computer.

I just dont like when it''s playing a movie file (any type of movie file) and the audio finishes about 10 seconds before the video does...
Maybe it''s just my broken computer.

What do you guys think of Winamp 3? I think its ok, I like that it now plays movies but I hate that in a play list it fades between tracks and I havnt found out how to change it yet.
Its not knowing the path but walking it.
On the main player, there''s a button with an X( cross fader ), click on it to remove the crossfade effetct.

The only feature which would reasonably attract me would be the cross-fader (which iTunes has had for about a year now).
If I get an audio player, I don''t want it playing video. I hope there''s some way to remove all the bloatware (please let it be plugins).
Or I could just remain using XMMS on my linux box.

It is all plugins. In fact, in the installation you have the option not to install the movie player.
The hackers must have gotten into the system through the hyperlink!!
