DNA a.k.a. Douglas Noel Adams has written some of the best sci-fi and comedy I have ever been able to read, but unfortunately he has obviously been dead for quite a while now. Does anyone else share the same interest in his novels and whatnot as I do? The past 2 weeks I went through 6 of his novels ( the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, etc... ) with great interest and much laughter. I don''t know of any other writers even remotely similar to him; Are there any? I wonder if I had the chance I would bring back Mr. Adams from the dead. Hopefully some other GD frequenters share a similar interest in him.

There aren't any authors quite like Douglas Adams. He had a particular way of stretching logic until it broke, and still making sense somehow. If you haven't already, you might want to look at The Salmon of Doubt, his last published book. It's a collection of previously unpublished works, including half of a Dirk Gently novel. It's just come out in hardback (in the UK at least).

Robert Rankin's style is a bit like Douglas Adams'. It's scifi, and it's comedy, and, like Douglas Adams' stories, the plot tends to twist and turn in blindingly illogical ways. It's pretty funny at times too.

I did read The Salm of Doubt, but I havent looked at the other Dirk Gentley books, yet. They don''t seem to be as interestingly convoluted, but at the same time logical as some of his other work.

I can''t imagine anyone posessing all the unique characteristics that Adams was able to, but from what some amazon reviewers say Robert Rankin seems to be equally interesting.
