I was wondering if anyone knows of any good web sites or books to learn Direct X programming. I know C++ and visual basic. I know others too but they are just basic languages and I want to start Direct X I heard it is better to use when making games.
Mess with the best die like the rest.
1. DX is NOT a programming language...it is an API to be used in conjunction with a programming language.
2. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/ (for Win32 API...don''t know about DX)
3. Hey, what are search engines for!?

Sorry for being seemingly rude, but being a programmer involves lots of solitary searching for answers...anyway, it''s always good to search for "directx" on amazon.com, and even gamedev.net has a solid books section.
I''ve heard good things from friends about "Inside DirectX" by Bargen and Donnelly...

Yeah I know what search engines are I tried them with no luck finding anything good. I also know what it i8s used for I didn''t mean to call it a programming language. I forgot to use game dev.
http://www.microsoft.com/directx
that is where you download the DirectX SDK, it comes with help files for you to read. If you want to spend cash on a book buy Tricks of The Windows Game Programming Gurus to learn how to use everything that is not 3D or Networked. And by Inside DirectX to expand upon that knowledge. Although it covers a lot of the same stuff, I bought it for its Buffered Input support and DirectPlay Support. It is focused on DirectX and not general game programming with DirectX that Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus is.

Windows Game Programming for Dummies is also a very great book, it takes you along very easy, great for beginners. Another nice book by André LaMothe.
