tutorials

I was wondering if anyone knew of a tutorial or book that explained some of the stuff in graphics programming. Like the inregs outregs stuff when setting video modes. Im not looking for sites that not only show you how to set graphics mode or do graphics but explain what eatch command does and how it is used.
