yes pure black is the same in 5-5-5 and 5-6-5

well, actually RGB in 555 is:
00000 00000 00000
and in 565:
00000 000000 00000

I''ve never programmed for any hardware that uses 5-5-5, but theoretically couldn''t that extra bit be an alpha value? In that case 00000-00000-00000-1 would be black wheras all zeros would be transparent, right? So maybe they''re not the same.
I''m not the kind to jump for the obvious answer.
