I made a simple direct3D 8.1 flight simulator in visual c++. I compiled it, and put it in a zip archive. It contained 3 files, flightsim.exe, grass.bmp, and the terrain mesh, terrain.x I sent this zip to two friends, but they got Illegal operation errors in windows XP when they tried to run this. Is there any other files I have to include to make this work on their computers? (like any dlls?)

Did you compile in release mode?
Debug mode uses a different runtime, they probably won''t have the debug runtime.

Do they have the DirectX 8.1 installed on their computers?

You''d get missing DLL errors if it was in Debug mode (or they didn''t have the right DirectX installed), not illegal operations.

Are you running Windows XP? It might be less forgiving when it comes to memory access and things like that than other versions of Windows (95/98/ME in particular)

If I had my way, I''d have all of you shot!
