Ok I''m posting here because it''s the place I know I''ll get the fastest response. Ok I dual boot linux and WinXP. My version of WinXP did not need product activation because It''s a copy from the university where my dad works. They have some kind of special license that allows them to let people who work there take copies of WinXP home. Then install it on a computer they use for university work. Because it''s a special license they don''t have product activation on their copies of winXP either. Anyway I''ve changed my hardware around a lot since I installed WinXP and it''s never given me any problems(product activation checks for hardware changes doesn''t it?). I just recently removed an old HDD. WinXP still booted fine. That was yesterday. Today when I tried to login it said there was a problem validating my license or something and wouldn''t let me login. Any ideas to what could be causing this? Thanks for the help

Hmmm it''s working now. Isn''t it amazing what a simple reboot can do in windows?

Then you will have no problem contacting Microsoft and asking them for help. I found it suspicous that you would ask here, instead of contacting them - which would be my first thought.

Try this number: (800) 892-5234

Yeah, that''s pretty suspicious ... asking for Windows XP help on an online forum instead of calling Microsoft. Imagine that. He must be using a warez copy ...
