I''m being offered right this minute a pair of old Kalimar binoculars -10x35- for $40, They look pretty battered up but I tested them in every way possible and they seem ok, no rainbows around dark objects on white backgrounds, the trouble is, I had never heard the name Kalimar before. This is the first pair of binoculars I am going to buy, used is the way to go, I suppose, since I''m just beginning birdwatching.
Has any of you heard or seen a pair of Kalimar binoculars? are they any good? does $40 sound reasonable?
