Well, as some of you might know already, I''m a huge keyboard freak. I like to have a new one as soon as they come out. I just got myself a viewsonic flat keyboard( And yes, it''s viewsonic and NO I''m not taking my screen as a keyboard ). It uses the same type of keys as on a laptop and to keep is as small as possible they messed up the insert, home, end, pgdown, pgup, arrow keys. It''s really messed up and to top all of this, the caps lock key is too easy to hit. Every time I hit shift or ''A'', I inadvertently hit the caps lock. Anyhow, I guess it''ll take some getting used to. What about you guys, anybody uses some weird Keyboard or maybe you painted all the keys( Like in hackers ) or replaced all the letters with cute little stickers??? Tell me what kind of keayboard you use...

MS Internet Keyboards. The low cost edition.

Very very good stuff. I went through keyboards constantly before I bought them. It was always static or something stupid that would fry the cheap ones so easily and occasionally take the MB with it. I remember one that for reasons unknown had a metal backing on it. "ZAP!"

Mice on the other hand; any cheap one will do though I''d like to get a couple optical ones eventually. One of the few remaining parts from my HP 133Mhz from back in the day is the mouse.

I like old keyboards that go click-click-click-click and offer some kind of tactile feedback. Today''s slick-ass, noiseless keyboards just don''t offer the tactile hit that you need as a coder.

I use a standard boring old keyboard. I changed a couple of times, but I didn''t like the key layouts. I mean, why put the \ next to / and shift. Every time I hit shift, I got \\\\\\\\\\\\
Horrible!

I saw these really cool keyboards in CompUSA. They were all soft and squishy, and you could roll them up and spill stuff on them. I though that was pretty cool, I mean, having a flexible soft keyboard.

I use an old IBM keyboard (yes, one of the clic clic ones mentioned earlier in the thread) pulled it off a 286, its 13 years old, still works great. My dad on the other hand has gone through 3 keyboards in the past couple years, they just aren''t durable like they used to be.

I just ca''t picture myself coding on a non-clicky keyboard, it just wouldn''t feel (or sound!) right.

I have a white keyboard with non-clicky keys. I actually can''t stand clicky keys, and will probably search for an even quieter keyboard in the future.

One of my friends just got a dvorak keyboard and is getting I think ~50 WPM after a week or so of usage. I might want to try that if he can type even faster than before.

Logitech wireless keyboard. The old type.

I love the sound it makes... When I''m on a coding spree, I drive the other people who are near me just plain nuts ^_^ I can type quite a few words per minute on this, typing bblind using my own weird system.

Anyway... The most important thing is that it is wireless ^_^ My computer isn''t really easily accessible you know... and I hate extension cords.

I got one of these babies:

Cordless keyboard/mouse combo. I love the cordless keyboard, and the mouse is great too, except it goes through a bit too many batteries for my liking

The keyboard itself is awesome, the tactile feedback is just perfect and the angle of the keyboard is just right for me.

If I had my way, I''d have all of you shot!

I bought IBM''s keyboard with a red track point in the middle (just like the one on their laptops). Now I don''t need to move my hands from the keyboard while typing. No more reaching for the mouse if you need to scroll or select a region. In fact I got so used to it my fingers automatically look for the track point even when I''m using other keyboard.

I have a Dell Quietkey (though, like a review said, it is not really quiet). Maybe it was a mistake but I did not see the need in buying a fancier one like my old compaq had. Though I am going to replace my mouse.

I got one of the wireless baby''s from logitech. I don''t use the mouse, intsead I have one of the MS Opticals (so much better than mechanical). But one of the best keyboards I''ve ever used: Good amount of tactile feedback, not OVERLY loud, and good typing speed.

I have a cheap $12 board that clicks. I prefer the cheap ones, since I don''t see much of a need for anything fancy like internet buttons. I usually replace them when a few of the keys become fairly unresponsive and I have to press them hard to get anything. A keyboard will usually last me about a year.

I still don''t understand why they don''t sell keyboards like on the old UNIX ones, where Caps Lock is replaced by Control. Those should be standard equipment to cut down on the crap in IRC.

yeah, exactly!!!

if I don''t feel & hear that I actually did press the key,
I type slow as hell, it''s amazing how I feel myself
getting faster and faster in a few seconds when
I start to work on a computer with a good (old) keyboard.

apple pro keyboard. came with the mac. Very durable. Perfect sound for me. I love having 2 usb ports builtin to it. It even has an F15 key! Very durable. When I first got it. I blacked out all the keys with a sharpie marker(cause if I can see the keys, I look for some reaon and type slower). By now the keys are so clean I cant tell I ever colored them . The one button mouse thing doesnt work with me so I have a 3 button scroll mouse instead.

Cheap ass 15$ keyboards. I usually have them for 2 or 3 years. They make some noise and I don''t care as long as it''s not as loud as old 80''s keyboards.

I always have a horrible, cheap looking keyboard that stands my dirty hands for 1 or 2 years. After that time it looks awful and has a lot of sticky keys. (I like to consume things while coding/working on it. Or, wait, no, it''s actually the opposite: I like to code while I''m eating )
On the other hand, I hate cheapass mice. I have an optical Logitech and also a cordless one. (Logitech as well. I like their mice) A mouse has to fit well, have 3 buttons or more and most important of all: It has to be smooth. I hate it when with some mice the cursor acts jumpy, It''s very annoying)
Some time ago I''ve seen a nice, blue-glowing-in-the-dark keybord (or, maybe it was just a mod, dunno) and I must admit it has something. But the price is high above what I would pay for a piece of plastic with glowing keys on it, I think it was around 100€.

I have one of these:

Its a Fujitsu 8725. It has cliky keys and is the most duable keyboard I've ever seen. I can pour Coke on it and it won't get screwed up, its pretty much bullet proof... I love it.
