Yes, we heard about is yesterday morning. 11 of the sniper shots match his gun, though I wouldn''t breath easy considering that 3 don''t (which could mean there was a copycat who will never be caught)

The guy who caught him got $500,000(USD) reward...he was a rest-stop attendent...he probably wouldnt have made that in his lifetime. Im happy for him.

And he''s giving at least half of it to the families of the victims. Just when I lose all faith in humanity, someone like him has to come along and prove me wrong.

sigh =)

I''m glad he got caught, but in a weird way I was kind of rooting for him. Its terrible people had to die, but it seemed kind of like a decent sport to see how long he could avoid the police. I was guessing at least another week.

Some ignorance on the snipers part got him into the whole idea of killing innocents. He didn''t really understand the fundamental reasons for the war against the US by the muslims, but yet he wanted his 15 minutes of fame. Its kind of sad he didn''t get blown up by a seperate and totally unrelated bombing group of fundamentalists. That would have shortened his idiotic rampage quite nicely and justifiably IMO.

Hey, now that you mention it, this sounds kind of like the book "The Running Man" by Stephen King (a movie version was made starring Arnold Schwarzenegger). Basically, there is a gameshow in which contestants must evade a guy trying to kill him by all costs. The evading involves running cross-country while the general populace watches on something called "Free Vee" (kinda like television).

I''m not normally a fan of capital punishment, but should the b*****d be found guilty, I''d have to admit I''ll be a happy man when I read a sidebar in ten year''s time describing his demise.

This is the reason for capital punishment - crimes like these. It is the right thing, the civilized thing. It is the punishmnet that actually shows empathy and compassion for the victims.

This guy is totally unrelated to a shopper at Home Depot. This shopper, this woman, who has forty years ahead of her, who is living her life, which is the only thing she is, the only thing she''ll ever have for all time in the entire Universe, has been removed by a twitch of this slimeball''s finger, because he randomly decided that evening to just do that.

I will be interested to see how much time passes between Williams execution and malvos execution. I don''t think the ''he''s just a kid'' arguement will fly well.

Yeah, good thing it was the war against the US by the 'muslims' and not the war against the US by the 'gamers' as media seemed to speculate...

If it is him, he should be locked up for life in a little cell. Getting killed is getting off easy (and there is always a small chance that it will be shown in 10 years from now that he did not do it).

Edit: btw, I dont agree about capital punishment being the 'civilized' thing either. OK if the guy is shot while fighting the police but now that he is under control, the risks and possible downsides of killing him off are greater than the value of satisfying the need for revenge IMHO.

Capital punishment is far from civilized. As I was raised, I was taught that civilization was based heavily on forgiveness . Getting a lethal injection is not forgiving, it is more sickening. It can take a person up to 3 hours to die by lethal injection, and it isn''t a painless death.

I think it was Ghandi who said "An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind."

Sorry bro'. Can't tell if that was inflammatory or not, but you need to sober up.

The best way to attack an opinion is to defend it with bad arguments, and it seems that is what you are doing when you are talking about forgiveness for someone like this.

Not having capital punishment is not to forgive, it is just about not murdering people whose lives you have full control over and can keep separated from society in small prison cells.

Edit: btw, while quoting famous people, the line before the first comma was freely quoted from Voltaire.

Fine then HenryApe, the next time you do something wrong, I want you to stab yourself in the hand.

No, it was meant for this thread; it just might possibly be construed as offensive.
