I want to write a MUD as a good programming language. For those unfamiliar with the term, a MUD is a Multi User Dimension(Like TA and Cyclone). I want to create a text MUD(An online text adventure). But, I have absolutely no idea on how I would store the rooms, actions, etc. From what I have heard in TA and Cyclone from Pouya and Programmer_one(The respectfull programmers of those MUDs) most stuff is being scripted. I can think of a way to store the actions and use textsearch to find the action, but how do I execute it then(Like attacking) since it is scripted. Are there any articles about MUD writing(Not the Win Sockets part, I have plenty of info about that)? Sand Hawk ---------------- -Earth is 98% full. Please delete anybody you can.

Your best mode of action is to download source code of an already existing MUD, and poke around in that. When you feel comfortable adding features and getting around in that, then you can start to design your own MUD engine. By poking around, you learn how data is stored and the general structure of a multi user game.

You can find source by searching google, or try aime.sourceforge.net

AIME has an email discussion list that the author of the code actually reads. He can offer any help in understanding tricky spots of code.
