i love programming, and one of my most passionate hobbies is game programming. but i dont want my hobby to become my job, i want to be in control and keep it fun not work. is there a gamedev.net of sorts thats more focused on application programming? or does anyone know of any tutorials that will teach me how to be a professional programmer, for a company or something? thanks for any help ,Matt -= kill one your a murderer, kill thousands your a conquerer =-

Most game development site focus on game development as opposed to other forms. Most people seem to understand that..

If you''re good enough, and lucky enough, then you can become a professional- until then, though, you need to learn like a fiend.

With your forum status, you don''t have that ability.

If you want to find online tutorials for non-game related applications, may I suggest this fine, fine site

BTW...
You cannot just read a tutorial and suddenly become a Professional Programmer(tm), not many companies will be impressed by your tutorial reading skills.

I know OF it, but never been there. By the way, ever seen the 7th Day Adventists Church? Its located right beside a landfill. Sermons were funny as hell when I went there.

"and lo Jerimiah said... Oh shit what is that smell?"

What did all that stuff that goes in the collection plates do? I counted one once, totalled over 1000 bucks. In one day. I mean, if the churches would just make wiser descions money wise...

well...we have the power bill, the water bill, the phone bill,
janitors to pay, a pastor to pay, 5 other minnisters to pay...

you get the drift. plus, we didn''t really mind all that much...it was for God, you know? We can deal with it for God.
