I know these post can be annoying, but with the search feature disabled there''s no other way. And the "Books & Software" secting didn''t relly cover that many books. I havn''t got one single programming book, so it''s about time I got one. I''m not an incapable programmer so I don''t need C++ for dummies or something. I want a book regarding 3d programming. I have done a little 3d programming, mostly from the DX8.9 SDK, but that''s all. I need a book that could tell me about scene management, clipping, collision detectin and all to make a say small FPS game. And I''m a DirectX fan, so preferably DX8. Which books have I found? These are the ones I''m thinking about: Advanced 3-D Game Programming with DirectX 8.0 - Seems to have all I want!? The Zen of Direct3D Game Programming - Looks better, but is it DX8? Any other books I should concider? Keep in mind I havn''t got that much cash, and will most likly just buy one book. So one book that could teach me all I need for a FPS using DX8 would be great. Anyone? /MindWipe

Get 3D Game Engine Design by David Eberly if you want all the maths behind the graphics. You''ll need a strong linear algebra foundation, though (at the least). The book is very complete and precise, but leaves a lot of the application and tying together of concepts to the reader.

Thanks for the tips LizardAl. But that book sounds a bit boring.
I want one that uses Dx8, and has lots of good examples. I''m thinking abit about maybe instead getting a OGL book, because there are more of them. But I would still prefer a dx8 book.
