I wrote a multithreaded server. When I test this server on Windows XP, it works fine - no problems at all. I have Windows 98 running on another computer. When I test the server on it, it usally randomly crashes for no reason at all. Note that the Windows 98SE is a clean install and has no service packs. Someone suggested I change the libs from Single Threaded DLLs to Multithreaded DLL, so I did. Same problems. (For the Multithreaded DLL libs to work, I had to copy two DLLs to the Windows 98 machine, otherwise my program would not even run) I asked a CS Professor today, and he said that it is because of Windows 98 box not having a service pack. Could that be it?

tried debugging?

I''ve written multithreaded programs for Windows 95 before that also ran in Windows 98. It''s probably a strange OS behavior difference between Windows 98 and Windows XP that''s causing it. Try debugging, like niyaw suggested.

Did you copy the dll files from the XP machine to the win98 machine? If so that could create some problems. Maybe you could find those dll files online somewhere for Windows 98 and give that a try.

Html is disabled for aps. By the way, you should stop necromancing or you will most likely get banned.

And so, the evil religion thread stole the wonderful "What the Heck?" thread's throne. Truly a sad day for gamedev.
