Hello... Quite simply, do you think Morrowind is worth buying? Warning in life.cpp (8): const Happiness is declared but never used.

I bought it, and I liked it. I still play it actually, but it sometimes locks up the keyboard and stuff which is extremely annoying.

At any rate, I think it is worth buying, if you like that type of game.

Hell Yes,
I''ve just order a X-Box so that I can play it,
(It''s alot cheaper then upgrading my computer).

But I do own the Collector''s Edition to PC for that very special day when I have the money to upgrade the computer,

I got it this week (it came with a new graphics card). It is the best game I''ve played on my PC in quite some time. You do need a very good machine if you''re buying the PC version though.

It''s a pretty good game. It starts out a little slow for some people, but once you get past that it''s very enjoyable.

Make sure your system is good enough though (my Geforce 3 Ti200 and Athlon 1200 Mhz did decently; it''s a little less nice on my mom''s Geforce 2 GTS and Duron 1000 Mhz machine, but still playable).

The latest patch made it playable without it crashing every 20 minutes (more like every 4-6 hours now ). It''s still buggy, but tolerable (you fall through the floor sometimes, and get stuck in walls and doors occasionally; open up the console and type ''tcl'' to toggle collision or ''fixme'' to move you out of walls to remedy the situation ).

The expansion (Tribunal) is good too, but decide about that on your own after you''ve played through the game at least once.

THIS GAME IS NOT FUN. DONT PLAY IT. IT IS LIKE CRACK... You start playing... its pretty interesting. Then you realized hours and house have gone by and you have acomplished NOTHING. Youre body starts deteriorating but you cant stop and you dont know why.

This game is more adicting than it is fun. Its so damn non linear that you will spend years doing things that have nothing to do with the story. Its like being in real life. And somone tells you you have to go find somone somewere. and you have the entire united states to find them. but you have to walk everywere you go. and you can do whatever you want along the way. and the more you pick up the slower you walk.

I''m telling you... Once I realized that this game was just another type of drug I quite right then and there. I still see my friends playing it.

"Man look at all the stuff I stole!" and I say, "What can you do with it?"

"Well.. umm I have this little house were I have a big collection of pillows and books and stuff I steal"

"AND?"

"well its cool..."

"AND, I AM SO STRONG I CAN KILL ANYONE IN THIS TOWN"

"And then what?"

"Well I take there stuff and put it in my house with things I steal from people"

"O_O"

See, this game is too realistic. It would be an AWESOME MMORPG but it has NO online play. You spend so much time in this world and it amounts to NOHTING. there is no ending to this game. Its JUST like a MMORPG but withought ANYONE ELSE.

THINK ABOUT IT...

Well everyone who replies speaks positively... so I'm guessing its a good game :-) Cant say I liked Daggerfall too much, but I think the 3D engine just disguested me lol. So... yeah might get it then, hope my PC is good enough, what do you think?

Athlon XP 1600+ (1.4Ghz)
GeForce2 MX400
128Mb RAM

Edit ----------------

Yeah I've heard about it's... uh cant think of a word. The way you just live a life. I actually find that interesting...

Very good, but I got tired of the game after 100 hours or so. The dungeons all seem the same with an extremely small amount of variation between them, and I got sick of the battle system since each battle is essentially the same.
Also, those damn Cliff Racers.......

I bought it expecting a lot of it... It looked great, and the world was huge and beautiful, but... It bored me to bits. Quests basically consist of nothing more than "Go there, pick up this, and deliver it there", and if you''ve had one battle, you''ve had them all. Which basically comes down to a lot of things. If you''ve robbed one dungeon, you''ve robbed them all. If you burgled one house, you burgled them all. If you''ve joined one guild, you''ve joined them all.
It was nice, but severely hyped and not worth the full price I payed for it. Except for the great graphics.

I have an old AMD K6-III 450Mhz and a GeForce2MX, and it runs fine on that (for the most part). Morrowind is a fun game and definitely worth the money.

yeah i reckon its a sweet game. it ran fine on my duron 850 with geforce 2 mx400 and now i have an athlon 2000 and a geforce 3 ti500 and it runs really well. it is a bit buggy, like falling through the floor and stuff but it''s only a minor annoyance. currently i;m a vampire which is a laugh. on the gameplay side i prefered daggerfall (the game which morrowind is a sequel to) but mw is still really fun to play.

I was thinking of getting Morrowind too, but one thing that turned me off was what I perceived as the lack of replayability. Is the game replayable? I don''t really like the idea of spending money on something I''ll only play once or twice.

I thought the graphics were great but the game was too repetitive and uninspired. I have the X box version though, i can''t speak for the PC version.

Considering the number of career paths (assassin, mage, thief, rogue, swordsman to name but a few), the sheer size of the game world, and the number of guilds and houses you can join this is probably the most replayable game ever made

Like someone has already said it can be a little slow at the start (I''ve only had it a week, so I''m still on my first go but my friends have played it through loads of times).

Going for my second time through the game, this time with shaders

First time I played as a Fighter-type, did all those guilds, most of the quests, one house, and STILL missed about half of the game (only saw three vampires in total :D).

So now I''m playing as a thief, and I got to say, it is an entirely different feel. Instead of being able to fight against monsters, I have to evade them, and combat tactics change a bit.

Next time, I''m going as a mage, and join the last house. Being able to cast spells and enchant things is also very nice in this game, and allows for YET another completely different feel to the game ^_^

Yup, it''s great.

If you''re into RPGs, and already have a copy of Baldur''s Gate II, yeah it''s worth paying for. Haven''t had time to get all that far through it, but it seems pretty good. Not to mention the editor - haven''t used it yet, but it''s supposed to be very good. There''s plenty of user-created mods flying around.

Look at it this way. If you like RPGs, then this game is going to become an addiction. I''ve had it since the day it came out. I was one of those sad, drooling geeks pratically busting the gameshop''s door down to get it. With a little under a year of playing, I have yet to even start the main quest.

Sure I''m the head of the mages guild and the leader of house Talvanni, slaughtered every vampire on the continent, free every slaves, raided every daedric ruin and fought almost every monster there is to fight; but I have yet to start the main quest...

That''s how enormous this game is.

What struck me as unique about the game, and what keeps bringing me back to wipe out another Imperial Fort and reestablish the Dunmer as rulers of Morrowind, is the setting. Its one of the most colorful and fleshed out RPG settings I''ve ever seen. The landscape is breath-taking and often times alien to anything I''ve seen before.

The sheer number of interesting books you can pick up (Many are the size of novellas) is atounding. Visit Joshabas Rare books in Vivec and spend the week reading.

Throw in the ability to create your own magical items in game, create a unique look for your character and the open character generation and you got a killer game.

Did I mention that it is fully customizeable? That''s right the developers included the same tool that they used to make the world. You can change anything to suit your tastes. Don''t like Cliff Racers? Well clip their wings and make them docile. Think Demoras are too easy to defeat, beef them up. Want to add a new continent to Morrowind... Go ahead!

Alright I need to shut up now, because I''m getting a little to excited. I really need to go get Tribunal... Right Now!

It''s a fun game as long as you have the hardware for it. You can spend your entire life walking from town to town, though... beware.

Yeah well there are many forms of fast transit between towns. Boats, Stilt Striders, Teleportation, Flying, Speed Spells.

And of course the boots of Blinding Speed, which makes travel quick and painless.
