Found this link on Flipcode today and had a thought. Are nearing the point where a FPS becomes walking around in an abandoned warehouse shooting at monsters that aren''t there? If so, how far past that will we link duplicate buildings across the internet and be able to "see" the people in the other buildings. This could get really cool. For those of you having a hard time seeing what I''m seeing, here''s another try at my explanation (I''ve been at work all day, I don''t even know if this one will make sense). Link multiple buildings, litterally anywhere, across the internet just like a basic multi-player FPS. Insert the image of another character that is in another building where you would see them into your viewcam. You would be able to interact on a whole new level. Always remember, you''''re unique. Just like everyone else.

MIT did this. Basically you wear a head set that overlays game information. It''s an extension of the wearcam where the guy''s wife could circle items in his view she wanted as he was shopping. Their problem with the game application was the GPS being slow and not accurate enough.

If you had a GPS you could plug into a PC and access to the raw data it''s not an entirely difficult concept. It''s just still kind of an expensive one. Head mounted displays (and transparent ones at that) and good laptops aren''t cheap. Tracking up and down /tilted head movement would be the most difficult part. GPS already has a compass to take care of rotation.
