i''m looking for a 3D-engine,directX based, wtitten in C++ that could fit for sport games. I don''t care the price, as long as its low (of course, i prefer an open source product) i appreciate any link/name/info i''ll get. cheers, solo

No, everyone doesn''t use their own engine. The Quake 3 engine for example, many games have been made using that. I don''t know of any good 3D engines that I would recommend. You can find many open-source ones online though...

I'm the author of the LGPL game engine project hosted at http://neoengine.sourceforge.net

It's a complete 3D game engine (graphics, sound, network, input) supporting Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and MacOS X. It's written in C++ and uses OpenGL in the rendering backend, although a DirectX backend for Windows is under development.

Feel free to give it a shot. There are a number of tutorials/demos showing some of the engine capabilities and how to use it.

Hi!

Have a look at ogre: ogre.sourceforge.net (open source).

Perhaps the torque engine will fit (www.garagegames.com) - it costs 100$ for making sharewaregames. To me it seems complex - but it''s powerfull and comes with source. The commercial licence costs 10.000.....

Another interesting engine is powerrender (www.powerrender.com) - for making shareware games it costs ~90$, commercial licence 1.500$. No source (source only with a 5.500$ licence).

Check out torque at www.garagegames.com. I''m sure it could be used for sports games if you wanted. A license is $100. Direct3D and OpenGL support. Multi-platform support as well. It was used to create Tribes 2.
