Is there a well written article with source that actually works 100% on the 3ds format? I have seen plenty of programs to load a 3ds file but they only ever seem to load the file that they supply with the code. When you go into max and just draw a tea pot and export it, it never seems to read them.

The code here worked really well for me. It''s the best code I''ve run across for loading the 3ds format. There''s not really an article but the source is well commented, if not over commented.

I have looked at this one before and it seems to be a prime example of one of these programs that will only load the file provided with it. Anyone know any other tutorials?

I think there must be something wrong with your models then, cause I've had no problem loading my own 3ds files with that example.

Are you sure your files aren't corrupt?

What do you mean when you say it won't work with your model?

That code works fine for me. Something is wrong with your models if they aren''t loading. My guess it your drawing a teapot so large that you end up inside it, so you can''t see it (backface culling). Or your file is simply corrupt.
