You can find various shots of the program through it's development here: Shots This is a little project I've been working on to help me get acquainted with OpenGL. A lot of the stuff from this program came from the tutorials on NeHe's site. Check it out, let me know if anything crashes or causes your computer to come down with fits of diarrhea.. Looking very nice. Admittedly I had a problem with the FPS also, typically getting 8-20 FPS, but thats damn good considering I''m running a P2 350, voodoo 3 2k (16 megs), 256 meg RAM. No crashes thus far, all seems good

I don''t know if it was intentional or if it''s just something my card can''t handle, but the crashed plane appears almost completely white, looking to have no texture.... if anything though, if this is not how it''s intended to look it is probably just my old graphics card. Might be getting a 2nd PC today... if it arrives I can try testing it on that also

The texture for the plane crash is pretty expensive. If you go into the data folder of the program and change the dimensions of the plane.bmp texture(probably to 256x256), your card could probably handle it. The detail will just be alot worse than originally intended.

Thanks for testing this for me guys...

Okay, I tried resizing the texture and indeed it worked =)

I did however encounter another problem. If you move the viewpoint further and further up, the model follows the viewpoint and eventually ends up upside down. Directional control becomes flipped, so in a multilayer game you could see someone walking around on their head!!! Again I''m still mightily impressed overall, but you might want to set a limit on how far upwards you are able to tilt the camera and also to not associate camera tilting with model movement.

If I remember rightly from my own projects this is very easy and quick to implement. Hope it helps,

Thanks for the suggestions, mephs.

I took them into consideration and implemented them. The download file has been updated if you want to check it out and see if that''s what you had in mind.
